Hood Brook Apiary

Saving The
Honeybees

A hands-on conservation and education effort focused on rebuilding honeybee populations, teaching the public about pollinators, and engaging the community through sponsorships, donations, and hive fostering programs.

Our Story

What the “Saving the Honeybees” Initiative Is

Hood Brook Apiary, based in Pittsfield, Maine, created this initiative after experiencing a total hive loss. Rather than retreat, they turned the setback into a community-driven conservation mission.

The initiative focuses on rebuilding colonies, promoting pollinator awareness, and supporting sustainable beekeeping practices that will protect Maine's ecosystems for generations to come.

Education & Public Engagement

Inspiring the Next Generation

  • Student apiary tours offer hands-on learning about hive structure, pollination, and honeybee ecology.

  • Tours occur before April 20th, when bees are not yet active, making visits safe and sting-free. Classroom lectures are available year-round. Tours after April 20th can be arranged.

  • The goal is to inspire the next generation of pollinator advocates through direct, memorable experiences.
