A Lifelong Fascination with Honeybees
Hood Brook Apiary began with a lifelong fascination for honeybees. After years of living in places where beekeeping wasn't possible, our founder finally established his first hives in 2006 on family land in New Hampshire. What started as a simple hobby quickly grew into a passion for understanding—and protecting—these remarkable pollinators.
Over the years, beekeeping has changed dramatically. Diseases, mites, and extreme weather have made hive survival increasingly difficult. National winter losses now average 50–60%, and Maine beekeepers have been hit especially hard. After losing entire apiaries more than once, we shifted our focus from honey production to honeybee preservation.
